Dirty Air: Grand Prix Drivers' Association, 2025
CRISIS COMMITTEE
The Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) is the trade union for Formula 1 Drivers. Established in 1961, this union was created after the world's fastest drivers saw a need for a body representing their interests before their sport's governing body, the FIA.
In this committee, delegates will step into the shoes of the world's 20 fastest drivers, tackling the issues that come with the sport's recent explosion of fame. Delegates will debate topics surrounding driver safety, activism and equity, team scandals, and influence the 2026 regulations that will transform the future of the sport. And of course, expect conversation surrounding the sport's controversial Netflix show, Drive to Survive.
Drivers will navigate these challenges while working to win Grand Prix and claim the title of World Champion. Who will end up P1?
It's lights out and away we go...

Hello! My name is Hanan Levis-Betancourt and I am proud to serve as your Crisis Director for this Committee! A quick introduction: I am a Psychology and Education Science major and I am currently in my senior year. I have been doing MUN for just as long and have really found my niche within Crisis Committees. The fast-paced nature of Crisis coinciding with the unique storylines each delegate is able to create a beautiful cacophony of chaos, creativity, and tenacity, and that is exactly what I am looking to see within this committee.
Ever since I first started binge-watching Drive to Survive in the midst of the pandemic, I have been a committed fan. I introduced F1 to our prestigious Secretary General in 2022. From there, we would watch races together and inevitably argue about our favorite drivers and teams (Forza Ferrari!). Within these moments, the idea for this committee was born.
I look forward to seeing some healthy competition on and off the track! We worked hard to deliver you a comprehensive F1 committee that allows you to address the totality of the sport, including the racing itself. Creativity, collaboration, and racecraft are all essential components to thrive in this committee. If you have any questions, you can reach me at hlevisbetancourt@ufl.edu. Best of luck!
