“Don’t be a Drag, Just be a Queen” : Drag in Contemporary America

CRISIS COMMITTEE

Hello queens, I hope you are prepared to demonstrate your charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to show the world the power of drag. Drag has long been an iconic cultural testament through its unique form of entertainment and connection to the LBTQIA+ community. Prepare to work with your fellow sisters to make your mark on the world in the name of drag. From balancing in stilettos in the political landscape of America to putting on your reading glasses to write your place in history and swapping out your tic tacs for smarties to expand on the success of drag. May the best queen… Win!

Reagan Gorton (She/Her) is a junior at UF and is ecstatic to direct her committee at SUNMUN III. They are Majoring in Criminology with minors in History and Disabilities in Society. This committee will be Reagan's second time directing after her Salem Witch Trials committee at GatorMUNXXII. After taking a more traditional approach in a historically based committee, Reagan is excited to maximize her creativity and imagination in this Drag Race-themed "Don't be a Drag, Just be a Queen" committee. Reagan is from Jacksonville, Florida, and has been an active member of UF Model UN since her first year at UF. She has staffed, competed, and served on the GatorMUN XXI secretariat. In her free time, Reagan enjoys the company of friends and family, relaxing in Plaza of the Americas, and indulging in her love for Drag Race.
